Earlier this week I wrote about participating in SlideRocket’s private beta trials (click here to read that post). Today I actually decided to give it a go and create a slideshow to help my Year 10 pupils learn the Perfect Tense in Spanish (and to help me teach it!).
The slideshow itself is very ordinary (save perhaps some whizzy effects and transitions). The main advantages of using SlideRocket as opposed to your usual PowerPoint are:
- No need to possess the relevant software – all is done online
- The presentation becomes accessible from any computer with an internet connection
- Pupils can watch the presentation time and time again – at home if they wish to
- It is very easy to add sounds (I added explanations in target language using Audacity)
- Presentations can easily be embedded on school blogs or websites
I think that SlideRocket is a great tool and is going to be a resounding success. If you want to participate in the private beta trials send an email to Nat from SlideRocket at info@sliderocket.com with reference Box of Tricks and she’ll sort out your access to the website.

Stunning presentation! Very very nice! I just showed this to the SlideRocket team and we’re all very proud. If possible we’d like to host this on the new web site under Sample Presentations. Would that be cool?
Nat, that’ll be great. Go ahead and thank you very much for the nice comment
Hey Jose,
Had a look at your preso and I’ve sent an email to Nat – looks like something I’d like to try out!
Also, I think I’m going to go back in time a bit and take up your Animoto challenge. Gotta go back a bit to go forward…:-)
Cheers!
Jess
Great Presentation José
Will be visiting more often from now on
