"Looking back and moving forward" - an interesting title for a blog thread, and an interesting contribution from Amanda. I do a lot of looking back these days, and I try to look forward too, but it gets more and more difficult with the flood of new appications that come online every week.

I recently revised an article that I wrote for the Council of Europe in 1996, titled "Lessons from the past, lessons for the future". It's surprising how much has changed, but it's also surprising how some things, especially attitudes to ICT, have not changed much. I got a lot wrong in attempting to look forward at that time, but I got a few things right too. I aim to revise the article at least once a year. Suggestions welcomed:

In November this year, I took part in an online panel discussion, shared with Ton Koenraad, Vance Stevens and Duane Sider (President, Rosetta Stone), on the theme "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (George Santayana 1863-1952), The Life of Reason, Volume 1, 1905), 13 November:

It was a fruitful discussion, the panel members having had over 100 years of experience with ICT between them. It was the first time that I have taken part in a panel discussion using Adboe Acrobat Connect Pro. It worked very well for me. A recording of this event is available here:

Here's looking forward to 2010. My TTS message to everyone can be found here:
