Showcasing Content with Jux

Jux is a stunning image-based alternative to what you might call ordinary blogging and allows the user to make impactful statements and delightful slideshows using their six different posting styles – slideshow, photo, block quote, photo, video, article and countdown.

Pictures can be uploaded from your own hard-drive or sourced from services such as Facebook, Flickr or Instagram.

Jux can be used by teachers to introduce or reinforce topics or, even better, by the students themselves as the culmination of a research or creative writing project.

Currently, as far as I can see, Jux only allows one Jux per user. It would be fantastic if students and teachers could have different Juxes for different topics or projects under the same main account. It would also be fabulous if individual pages from Jux could be printed out to form part of classroom displays. I wonder if Jux is listening…

Anyway, here is a Jux I made earlier using the block quote format in Jux, using quotations from my personal blog Socially Networked.

Go, play and enjoy.

We’re listening :-)  Look for better ways to organize posts in the near future.

I’ve just spent a few minutes playing with Jux and I think it looks rather nice.  Must the posts appear in chronological order, or can I change that?  (I probably ought to read the FAQs, really…)

You can change the date of posts to reorder them, but we hope to make this easier in the future. http://helpers.jux.com/customer/portal/articles/315802-how-do-i-change-the-order-of-my-posts-

Unimpressed I’m afraid. It looks jux like the kind of tool poor teachers use to mask students weak literacy, numeracy and design skills.

This looks like a great alternative to endless dull presentations on PowerPoint.  Is there any way of moving the overall layout of one’s jux, changing the order in which the various pics, articles and suchlike, get presented on the screen?

Hi Will, thank you for your comment and for returning this post and comment thread to its original intention: to bring Jux to the attention of teachers who can think of ways of putting it to good use.

Unfortunately, from what I can see, currently Jux supports blog-like chronological order. I think this is because the makers of Jux see it as an alternative to blogging, not as a presentation tool, although, as it is already obvious to you, it has great potential in that respect.

Jux sounds like a great tool I could use in my classroom for a final project for research.

Thanks for the suggestion, José. Looks perfect for a multimedia language learning project I’m cooking up.

How can you add photos to slideshows? It would be great to slide a photo already on JUX into a slideshow. This way when it gets all a bit crazy you can organise your stuff into slideshows. Is this possible?
